Stress Awareness Month: An Opportunity for Reflection

April is Stress Awareness Month. To be honest, we’re already quite aware of stress around here. Like most founders, stress can sometimes feel like an extra (unwanted) member of the co-founding team.

There is power in naming stress though. With all the changes and growth that have been happening at CT, we’re using this month as an opportunity to do some reflection, planning, and strategizing on stress.

Stress can often come with a “go, go, go” energy, that can be pretty satisfying. March had big “go, go, go” energy, and we worked hard to walk the talk and give ourselves some time to recharge after. Which was needed, but also means we’re on day 2 of post-holiday email catch-up. Stress right now looks a bit more like unmotivated “I just want to bang on my mug all day” vibes. Which is expected, normal, and passes! Even if it’s a version of stress less accepted in startup life.

Looking into April, we’re going to be prioritizing some routine building, to help ourselves move through the stress slump.

We blocked off some time for the things on our to-do list we tend to avoid, to free up that brain power spent trying to convince ourselves to do it. We also blocked off time for moving because we know that helps post-vacation slump.

(and someone **ahem Keara** has some ½ marathon training catch up to do).

Naming the slump stress and coming up with an action plan was helpful!  We encourage you to take a few moments and do the same.

Here are the questions we used today to reflect, plan, and strategize:

  1.   How would I describe my current relationship with stress right now?

  2. Looking into April, how can I support myself to move through stress?

  3. How do I put that into actionable steps?

Remember. Stress is a visitor. We have a lot of power when we think about how we want to respond to stress.

Happy stress strategizing

PS. Stress taking up a lot of space right now?
